Winner of i + g cohen ltd and Wirral Council design competition

i+g cohen ltd in partnership with Wirral Council launched a competition with Woodchurch High School to place a textile bank on their school premises designed by one of their pupils about what recycling means to them. The winner was 12 year old Ellie Bell with a striking design which the judging panel felt really captured the essence of recycling used clothing with a clean and simple design. The textile bank was placed on the school premises in time for the Eco Schools Conference being held on Wednesday 4th July.

i + g cohen Ltd are building up to the RWM Exhibition 2012

For the third year running, i + g cohen Limited is one of four key sponsors of the Eco-Fashion Show which is one of the highlights of the recycling industry's flagship event. Promoting ethical and sustainable fashion, the catwalk show brings a bit of creativity to the event with a focus on upcycling materials to create new pieces and showing how much can be done if we recycle and reuse our used clothing instead of just dumping it into landfill. This year, we are sponsoring a local designer who will be bringing a bit of vintage and retro glamour to the event...more details to follow.

"We’re making progress on bogus clothing collectors” say police

At a forum organised by the police force to update charities and clothing collection companies such as i + g cohen Ltd, officers called on charities to help them.

How do you know if the collection is genuine?

i + g cohen Ltd is constantly working with several bodies within the industry to improve standards for collections by campaigning for a code of practice to be adopted industry wide, so that there is consistency and reassurance for the public about clothing collections for charity. We work closely with the police, licensing departments in local authorities, trading standards, BIS (formerly BERR) and other agencies to help get these bogus collectors off our streets!

i + g cohen Ltd are working in partnership with Junk Shop UK

We are really happy to announce that we are developing a partnership with Manchester-based community interest company JUNK SHOP UK with our first collaboration featuring on the catwalk at the RWM Exhibition in September. Using items handpicked by our specialist sorting team in our warehouse based in Salford, the design team at Junk Shop UK led by Charlotte Keyworth will turn the used clothing and accessories into creative pieces ready to show on the catwalk which takes place thrice daily over the three day event.

Raising awareness of textile recycling with Salford City Council

i + g cohen Limited teamed up with the Environmental Education Officer from our local city council here in Salford and provided bags of used clothing for a textile class taking place at Buille Hill School. The session was held to raise awareness of textile recycling and was so successful that the Education Officer has been asked to return to the school to run more with other classes.
